Presentation

MDE (Model Driven Engineering) is an emerging technique in software, system and data engineering, based on the systematic use of models. Models are considered as first class entities. The variant defined by OMG is called MDA for Model Driven Architecture. Another variant of MDE is the Model Integrated Computing MIC. Microsoft has its own solution called DSL Tools. MDA is an abbreviation for Moldova (its ISO 3166-1 three-letter country code); two organizations in the U.S.: the Muscular Dystrophy Association; the Missile Defense Agency, an agency of the Department of Defense; various computing terms: the OMGs model-driven architecture; Monochrome Display Adapter, a computer display... Model-driven architecture is a software design methodology, proposed and sponsored by the OMG. The basic idea is that the system functionality is defined as a platform-independent model, using an appropriate specification language and then translated to one or more platform-specific models for the actual implementation. ... A microphone with a cord A microphone, sometimes called a mic (pronounced mike), is a device that converts sound into an electrical signal. ...

According to Doug Schmidt, Model Driven Engineering technologies offer a promising approach to address the inability of third-generation languages to alleviate the complexity of platforms and express domain concepts effectively.
