Encyclopedia > Modiin

Modiin is a young city located half way between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in central Israel. Modiin started being populated in 1996. As of December 2003, after uniting with Maccabiim and Reut, it has a population of about 50,000.



Historically it has been built on the site from where the Maccabean revolt against the Seleucid Greeks started.
