Modular Records is an Australian independent record label. It was established by Sydney-based music promoter Steve Pavlovic as a joint-venture with EMI, but is now distributed (and reportedly half-owned)[1] by Universal Music in Australia. History

Founded in 1998 by Sydney concert promoter Steve Pavlovic. The label came to most people’s attention on 2001, when they released Australian sample-based electronica act The Avalanches' debut album Since I Left You. In 2005 a London office was opened overseen by Phil Hutcheon Modular’s influential vice president. Van She, a new wave electropop four piece from Sydney were signed in August 2005.[2] Mid 2006 modular signed London’s New Young Pony Club. I recall a recent interview with a former electronic music improviser who is now enamored of total control, to the effect that previous recordings of his were not worthy of discussion because the sounds were just happened upon and could not be reliably reproduced.
