Montgomery is a city located in Hamilton County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 10,163.

Montgomery is located at 39°14'50" North, 84°20'51" West (39.247359, -84.347556)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.8 km˛ (5.3 mi˛). 13.8 km˛ (5.3 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 10,163 people, 3,616 households, and 2,943 families residing in the city. The population density is 737.6/km˛ (1,908.7/mi˛). There are 3,716 housing units at an average density of 269.7/km˛ (697.9/mi˛). The racial makeup of the city is 94.00% White, 1.57% African American, 0.05% Native American, 3.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. 0.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 3,616 households out of which 39.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.8% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.6% are non-families. 16.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.11.


In the city the population is spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 4.1% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 30.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 93.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.1 males.


The median income for a household in the city is $89,224, and the median income for a family is $100,158. Males have a median income of $78,881 versus $45,000 for females. The per capita income for the city is $45,460. 2.8% of the population and 2.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.2% of those under the age of 18 and 1.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

BENJAMIN B., teacher, Germantown, was born in Clinton County, Ohio, March 23, 1845, and is a son of David M. and Margaret Harlan, he a native of Kentucky and she of North Carolina, the former born in 1809, and the latter in 1815.
Ingram came to Ohio in 1838, and in 1810 married Martha Kindig, daughter of Henry and Magdalena Kindig, natives of Pennsylvania.
Prugh and family came to Ohio, locating on one hundred and sixty acres of land five miles south of Dayton, in the present township of Van Buren, upon which he and wife spent their lives, she dying in 1876 and he in 1879, being faithful members of the Reformed Church.
