Storyline

While fleeing from Scorpion, Quan Chi discovers an ancient tomb, containing the mummified bodies of the army of the Dragon King, the first emperor of Outworld (and the inspiration for the MK Dragon symbol). He proposes an alliance to Shang Tsung, wherein he will provide a conduit for Tsung to draw souls from the Heavens to imbue into the army, and they will use the army to conquer Outworld, Earthrealm, and the Heavens. They kill Shao Kahn and Liu Kang to remove the largest obstacles in their way, and then proceed to draw souls from the Heavens to put into the army. Rayden gathers his Earthrealm warriors and takes them into Outworld to fight the Deadly Alliance.

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance follows Mortal Kombat Gold and comes before Mortal Kombat: Deception.
