Dschinghis Khan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (387 words)
The name of the band is the German spelling of "Genghis Khan" (with an added "h"), and was chosen to fit the song of the same name written and produced by Ralph Siegel with lyrics by Bernd Meinunger.
They took fourth place in the Eurovision Song Contest 1979, and their song was a big national and European hit.
Even though the band was most successful in Germany and all the songs were in German, the producer Ralph Siegel also made an English version of every released song (including Moskau).

Nearly all the songs are in German, sung in a powerful bass voice that is very original, contrasting favourably to the anaemic British-American style.
Usually songs develop in a sort of talking style, then a rousing chorus follows, accompanied by metal rhythms that can be quite melodic.
This is in contrast to the words of the song itself, which begin with 'Moscow is a prostitute'.
