The name of the village is often incorrectly abbreviated as "Mt. Brydges", based on the assumption that "Mount" signifies "Mountain". In fact, the name was given because it is the highest point in Caradoc Township. A railway worker who had the last name "Brydges" contributed much to the township and so the town was renamed in his honour. Even the signs say Mt.Brydges so it is no longer incorrect. |
