Mount Leonard is located at 39°7'33" North, 93°23'41" West (39.125902, -93.394822)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 km˛ (0.1 mi˛). 0.3 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 123 people, 38 households, and 31 families residing in the town. The population density is 474.9/km˛ (1,215.0/mi˛). There are 44 housing units at an average density of 169.9/km˛ (434.6/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 94.31% White, 2.44% African American, 0.81% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.44% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 38 households out of which 42.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.8% are married couples living together, 15.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.4% are non-families. 15.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.24 and the average family size is 3.48.


In the town the population is spread out with 36.6% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 89.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.0 males.


The median income for a household in the town is $20,833, and the median income for a family is $18,750. Males have a median income of $18,125 versus $13,906 for females. The per capita income for the town is $7,405. 48.4% of the population and 46.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 69.1% of those under the age of 18 and 18.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
