Marsabit is a 1707 m high 6300 km² basaltic shield volcano in Kenya, located 170km east of the center of the East African Rift at 37°58' E, 2°19' N (37.97°E, 2.32 N). There is a nearby town of the same name (Marsabit), which like the volcano are located in the Eastern Province. Mauna Kea, a shield volcano, on the Island of Hawai‘i with a light dusting of snow. ... The volcano is covered by dense forest. Marsabit National Park is in the area.
