Mount Olympus in Utah, USA is the most prominent and recognizable mountain in the Salt Lake Valley, though not the tallest. Olympus sits approximately halfway between Ensign Peak (the northern most peak in the Salt Lake Valley separating Salt Lake City from North Salt Lake and Bountiful) and the point of the mountain in Draper and Bluffdale separating the Salt Lake Valley from Utah Valley (comprised of American Fork, Orem and Provo). This halfway point between those aforementioned North and South physical landmarks of the Salt Lake Valley is unofficially dubbed the Midvalley area. Olympus' tallest outcropping, dubbed "Summit Peak" rises above the Wasatch Front basin at an elevation of 9,026 feet (2751 m). Thus, the peak looms more than 4,800 feet (1500 m) over the valley floor. A topographical summit is a point on a surface which is higher in elevation than all points immediately adjacent to it. ...
