Mount Tom in California's eastern Sierra Nevada range is a large and prominent peak near Bishop. Mines on Mount Tom were important sources of tungsten for much of the 20'th century although ore deposits are now largely depleted and mining on the mountain has mostly ceased. The mountain is named after Thomas Clark who is credited with the first ascent of the peak in the 1860's.
