History

Moviefone was created by Russ Leatherman and Rob Gukeisen, after they grew tired of getting busy signals when they called movie theaters for showtimes. Simultaneously, Andrew Jarecki and Adam Slutsky were working on an identical business in New York. Leatherman and Gukeisen had experience in the entertainment industry, while Jarecki and Slutsky had experience in marketing and financial backing. After an article appeared in the Hollywood Reporter in May of 1989, the four learned of one another, joined together and thus Moviefone, Inc was born. Moviefone originally launched in New York and Los Angeles, it has since expanded nationwide.

CSI set out to help MovieFone design and build a data mart that would cull customer information, make it readily available to its marketing and sales departments, and enable managers to make strategic decisions about their business.
MovieFone could sell the investor a breakdown of people by zip codes that request movies of that ilk and pinpoint the best location for the new theater.
Although the MovieFone project was completed in less than 120 days (for a fixed price of $75,000 plus products), in all data warehousing projects there are obstacles to be wary of and issues that arise.
