Moya is a member of the Leviathan race created by the Builders. When they are young, if captured by a Peacekeeper squad, a Leviathan is bonded with a Pilot, who serves as the Leviathan's navigator, operator, companion, and link to the crew of the ship. Leviathans are ships of peace, and as such have no offensive capabilities. They do have an impressive defensive maneuver, however, called starburst, which allows the ship to travel at incredible speed through a tear in space-time.
