Sir Muhammad Jamalul Alam II (1889 1924) was the sultan of Brunei from May 12, 1906 until his death on September 11, 1924. By the time he became sultan, the United Kingdom had established a protectorate over Brunei. During his reign there was a power struggle between himself, the British residents and the nobles. A regency council of two nobles ruled for him until 1918. He was knighted in 1920.
