But he still found enough off the bridle from the furlong mark to hold off the strong challenge of Murghob, who also raced keenly and had to be switched.
Trainer Alex Embiricos said of the winner: "He was done for a bit of toe in a better race at Newmarket last time, but he may in any case be better on a turning track." He can win again in his present form, but plans now are to start schooling him for hurdling.
