Museum of Railway (Japanese: 鉄道博物館 Tetsudō Hakubutsukan) is the name for a museum projected to be opened in 2007 or early 2008 in Onari-cho, Omiya-ku, Saitama, Saitama, Japan. It is specialised to research and education of history, science and technology about railway. The East Japan Railway Culture Foundation, a not-for-profit affiliate of the East Japan Railway Company will build and operate it. It has a 19,800-square metre (m²) building built on the 42,500 m² campus, with 9,500 m² display area. A museum is a non-profit making, permanent institution in the service of society and of its development, open to the public, which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits, for purposes of study, education and enjoyment, the tangible and intangible evidence of people and their environment. ...
