Wallis and Futuna

Music in the French overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna is overwhelmingly Polynesian in form. Traditional music is taught by specialists called mâau. Prominent composers include Helena Puino, Apeleto Likuvalu and Likaleto Simete. Organizations like the Asssociation culturelle de Futuna promote indigenous music.

In 1999, Roland Di Rosa, a sound engineer, released Digital Studio, a compilation of Wallisian music. He has continued to release compilations that include performers like Ofamahi, Taulaga and Semata.
