It is probably most notable for its relationship to the movie Goodfellas is a 1990 film about the mafia directed by Martin Scorsese. It is based on the book In the film Henry Hill, played by Ray Liotta, becomes involved in the mafia at a young age: as he says in the film, As far back as I can remember, I... Goodfellas. Both movies are based upon the life of Henry Hill (born c. 1942) is a famous former FBI informant whose life was immortalized in the book , in which Hill was played by Ray Liotta. Contrary to popular belief, Hill was never a mafioso himself, but an associate of the mafia. Worldwide mafias have a strict rule of accepting... Henry Hill, although the character is renamed to "Vincent 'Vinnie' Antonelli" in My Blue Heaven.


In some ways My Blue Heaven is a sequel to Goodfellas, as Goodfellas ends with Hill's dissatisfaction with life in the The Witness Protection Program is established by the Witness Protection Act, which in turn sets out the manner in which the U.S. Attorney General may provide for the relocation and protection of a witness or potential witness of the federal government, or for a state government in an official... Witness Protection Program, while My Blue Heaven starts out Hill's life after the move. Goodfellas stays much closer to the facts of Hill's life, but a lot of Hill's experiences are reflected in the latter film (an in addition, My Blue Heaven flashes title cards on the screen listing the chapter headings in Hill's books.)


While Goodfellas was based upon the book Wiseguys by Nicholas Pileggi, the screenplay for My Blue Heaven was written by Pileggi's wife, Nora Ephron (born May 19, 1941) is an American film director, producer and screenplay writer. Her parents, Henry Ephron and Phoebe Ephron were both successful screenwriters. She is best known for her romantic comedies. Nora Ephrons second husband was journalist Carl Bernstein.
