My Lucky Stars is a 1985 Hong Kong movie, the sequel to Winners and Sinners and the prequel to many more follow ups. The film is a comedy heavy affair though it does have some fight scenes.
Plot summary
The plot involves Jackie Chan's character (an undercover cop) enlisting his childhood friends to travel to Japan to help him catch a Yakuza group.
Despite being billed as one of the stars Chan's role in the film is relatively minor until the last half hour, prior to then the major star of the film is Sammo Hung.
However, in the case of ‘MyLuckyStars’, there is some false advertising in effect, because for the most part this movie belongs to the ‘LuckyStars’, a gang of comedians who fail to amuse.
MyLuckystars certainly isn’t as good as it’s sequel, ‘Twinkle Twinkle LuckyStars’, which was average at best, and is nothing more than a plotless ‘comedy’ book-ended by some half decent Kung Fu action.
The action scenes in ‘MyLuckyStars’ are worth checking out, but to claim that this is a Chan/Biao/Hung movie is simply a lie.
