A National Vocational Qualification , or NVQ , is a certificate of vocational education in the United Kingdom . NVQs are available to people of all ages, and have no entry qualifications.

In 1997 the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) was formed to administer the NVQ system, and the first NVQs were awarded in 1988.
