Doyle interrogates Nadia

Nadia Yassir's experience at CTU reflects the rise of Islamophobia since September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. When the Department of Homeland Security decides to racially profile government workers based on ethnicity, she experiences restricted access to the network, severely hindering her work. Her religious background also makes her subject to discrimination from co-worker Mike Doyle. She is the first to be suspected when it is revealed someone is leaking data to terrorists. However, it is later proven by Mike Doyle that she is in fact innocent, as a remote access module is found at the location of the drone pilot and proves that Nadia's workstation was hacked by an outside source. Throughout the season, CTU co-worker Milo Pressman is shown helping Nadia out on a few occasions. When she is red-flagged by Homeland Security because of her Middle Eastern roots, her job efficiency is severely slowed. However, Milo, albeit breaching security, lends her his clearance code to allow her to work at her usual production rate. When Nadia is considered a possible traitor when it is discovered that intelligence was being leaked from CTU, Milo defended her and denied any claim she had treacherous motives. After Nadia is proven innocent, she and Milo share a passionate kiss, which he insists they both will not forget. However, Nadia is forced by Mike Doyle to choose between risking Milo being arrested for breaching security or "betraying him for his own good" when Mike finds out that Milo's actions earlier concerning her caused Nadia's system to leak data. It is shown that Mike wanted to eliminate all evidence Milo had caused the security breach, rather than remove him for it. Things turn a little sour when Nadia shows concern after a field operation where Mike Doyle (an enemy of Milo) was injured, and Milo questions why she would do that after he assaulted her while being wrongly interrogated by Mike. After Bill Buchanan is fired for political reasons, Nadia assumes the duties of Director of CTU. It is shown that Nadia may have feelings for Mike, something Milo was uneasy with, but told her it was ok if she and Doyle had anything between them. For a brief moment there is silence, and just as Nadia nervously gets up, Milo, in a final act of love for Nadia, claims to the Chinese he is the Director of CTU. A scared Nadia tries to signal to Milo not to do what he is planning to do, but Milo looks at her one last time as he is asked to come forward. Milo is then fatally shot in the head, with Nadia shocked at witnessing what had just happened. Minutes later, Nadia is seen holding the hand of her dead friend.
