The Story

The Book

While each book in the Sword of Truth series has had a focus upon moral actions, Naked Empire was criticised on release for having a focus on talking about good deeds, without actually doing many (at least until the climax). It was also criticised for being too 'preachy' and covering little new ground. Fans were also surprised that Jennsen Rahl seemed to have lost her strength of character from The Pillars of Creation, and is now little more than an ineffectual sidekick. The Sword of Truth is a fantasy series written by Terry Goodkind. ... However, it is arguable that this book was intended to set the groundwork for the final trilogy in the series. Indeed, it can be said that Jennsen was never that strong a person, but merely acted to survive.

Empire - definition of Empire in Encyclopedia (1367 words)
An empire (also known technically, abstractly or disparagingly as an imperium, and with powers known among Romans as "imperium") comprises a set of regions locally ruled by governors, viceroys or client kings in the name of an emperor.
For many centuries, the term "Empire" in the West applied exclusively to states which considered themselves to be successors to the Roman Empire, such as the Byzantine Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, or, later, the Russian Empire ruled from the "Third Rome" (Moscow).
Naked aggression and sadistic greed, no more than theoretical imperialism, provide little in the way of comforting justifications for the growth and continuation of empires.
