More Detailed Plot

The movie opens up to a fighting scene which appears to be the shinobi of the sand fighting against an ambush of strange knight-like creatures dressed in heavy armor. It is difficult to see for they are fighting in which seems to be in a deserted area near an ocean during the night. The knights seem to be immortal, strangely living through all attacks the sand shinobis carry out against them. Kankurō disguises his puppet, Kuroari, into a sand ninja, and sends it to hide within a broken down fortress. Soon a knight takes to slamming a weapon into the fortress, splitting the apparent sand ninja's face in half, thus revealing Kuroari's disguise. Kankuro directs Kuroari to open its chest, revealing strings of charka which ensnare the knight and pull him towards it, which opens up to catch the knight inside of it. The sounds of knives slicing flesh are heard next as a series of knives cut into the knight. Spoiler warning: Kankurō is a fictional character in the manga and anime Naruto. ...

After the cutting of the knight, other knights notice the destruction and all turn to ambush the puppet, Kuroari. All armed and faced towards Kankuro with huge weapons pointed towards them, they get saved by a sudden rumbling that shakes the ground, even making one of the many sand shinobis warn others to evacuate quickly out of the area. A huge whirlpool of sand splashes out, reaching over the unsuspecting knights and swallowing them into the whirlpool of sand. It turns out that Sabaku no Gaara has finally arrived and Kankuro makes a quick joke about how he's late. Gaara is a fictional character in the anime and manga series Naruto. ...

Gaara then destroys the trapped knights with Sabaku Taiso (Desert Imperial Funeral). It seems as though some knights survive and the ones that do flee into the water, being followed closely by three sand nin who hop onto a small bost. Kankuro gives an order not to purse them, which quickly passes by unoticed. All becomes dark until Gaara orders to send flares into the sky. Lighting the are a bit more, a huge ship becomes revealed in the dark sky. Many comment on never seeing such a ship before. The huge ship begins to fire strange red bullets, making many start to panic. Clapping his hands together Gaara summons more sand to protect the men but the projectiles seem to burst through his sand.

Admist the sand the title, Naruto Daigekitotsu! Maboroshi no Chiteiiseki dattebayo is revealed.

A ferret is shown scampering through a forest scene. Happily following a trail of food as it does, hopping over tree roots and popping it's head over tall grasses. Nara Shikamaru, Haruno Sakura and Uzumaki Naruto are shown in the scene as well, peeping their heads over trees and spying on the ferret. The ferret quickly scampers over the hill, chasing after more food and then falling under a box. The threesome make there way towards the trap they set up, lifting the box gingerly and identifying the ferret. Naruto begins to snicker at how simply the ferret is fooled, laughing as Sakura orders him to take a cage out to place it in. The ferret seems to understand Naruto and instead of hopping obidently into the cage, it instead hops onto Naruto's face, attacking wildly and scratching at his flesh, causing him to bleed. Naruto loses control and suddenly the ferret hops from his hands and down the hill, and the three go chasing after it, Naruto first running and behind him a cursing Sakura and a bored looked Shikamaru.

As Naruto bends to pick the ferret up, his foot gets caught in some type of rope, which appears to be some sort of trap and it pulls him up making him dangle helplessly from the tree while the ferret clings onto his cheeks with his teeth.

Somehow they manage to free the exubruant blonde and the threesome walk through what appears to be some sort of valley, filled with rocky mountains. Naruto shows a dislike for the ferret, calling it a cat more then a ferret. (And earlier in the series, Naruto shows a strong disliking for cats.) They soon come to a bridge, and Shikamaru checks a map to see what happens after they cross the bridge. Naruto mishears and thinks that they're supposed to cross the bridge, and rushes towards the bridge. He smashes through a weak part of the bridge hanging only by his hands looking down a foggy and rocky crevice. Sakura and Shikamaru quickly follow after him, and Sakura yells at him for being careless while Shikamaru stays behind, examining the village that is just beyond walking distance. Sakura asks if anything is wrong, and Shikamaru comments on how that is the village they have to return the ferret to and there seems to be something wrong with the village. With his obversvation skills he concludes that the village is too empty and that something must've happened.

They soon switch to a "reconnaissance pattern" which Shikamaru calls it, where he will separate from the other two and check out the village. They follow, turning the other way all wearing wireless communicators.

Naruto and Sakura are hidden within trees and suddenly the ferret starts struggling against Naruto's backpack. The ferret is much too loud, making others find their hiding place. The strange knight like creatures return, attacking them and the two barely dodge. Sakura sends out a panicked scream.

Shikamaru hears the scream from the wireless, asking what's wrong in a panicked voice. He then reached the village and finds it to be completely destroyed, smoke pouring out of strange holes.

Naruto takes a hit by one of the knights, losing his wireless comunicator. As Sakura is being chased by one of the knights, she speaks to Shikamaru, warning him that there are strange enemies in the area. Shikamaru says he will be right there in a moment. Sakura begins to throw kunai at the knight, but finds it useless for the thick armor seems to protect them. So she adds an exploding tag and flings a kunai towards it, blowing it up into pieces. She takes herself in mild victory and soon finds that another knight is behind her, waiting.

Meanwhile Naruto uses his Uzumaki Naruto Rendan (Uzumaki Naruto Combo) to destroy a knight. As the knight gets buried into the dirt a strange smoke appears and through the smoke a new knight appears. Ninjutsu (忍術, Ninja Techniques) in the fictional anime and manga series Naruto, is hard to define; it is basically any technique that does not fall under either Taijutsu or Genjutsu, which means that it uses sources outside those naturally available to the body or the mind to accomplish its task. ...

He seems to be the the leader of the knights for he wears regular grey armor rather than the brown armor of the other knights. They hold Sakura captive and Naruto attacks to save her. He manages to give the knight a slight cut but nothing more. Naruto says it is cowardly to take a hostage and tells the knight to release her. Only to have Shikamaru take control of the knight with his Kagemane no Jutsu (The Art of Me-and-My-Shadow) and has it attack the leader. Sakura is now freed and Naruto uses his Tajū Kage Bunshin no Jutsu (Multiple Shadow Clone Technique) to make a ton of Shadow Clones. Most of them are wiped out by a weird attack coming from the knights blade. From the smoke Naruto comes with his most powerful Rasengan technique. But the two powers collide and they both end up falling off the cliff they had destroyed. Shikamaru and Sakura see the same ship from before going through the canyon Naruto and the knight fell down. Naruto wakes up to find himself next to the knight but he sits up and is injured. It turns out he is with a caravan village. A travelling village that lost their original home. An old man named Kahiko is the leader. He explains about his village and comments that they are very lucky not to have been swept away in the river. The Knight wakes up and Naruto yells at him and the old man slaps him to show him how he can't fight. Then the same ferret crawls out from under the blanket the knight is under. Naruto comments on how his recovery time is very fast. Kahiko says that the knight has the same type of ability. The ferret climbs onto the old man and it turns out that Kahiko owns him. Nerugui is the ferret's name. They consider him their treasure. The ferret runs over to the knight and lays in his lap just after Kahiko says that he recognizes only the villagers from the caravan. Then Kahiko groans about it. Sakura and Shikamaru think of a plan. Sakura is supposed to find Naruto and Shikamaru is supposed to sneak aboard. Afterwards a flashback occurs with a younger version of the leader of the knights and a mysterious person walking behind him. He is scared of that person. Then he is floating in water looking up and a voice says "Come here". A mysterious man reaches out for him and grabs him and pulls him upwards. Then the knight wakes up. He comments "Haido-Sama". A woman tells Naruto about the wandering clan along with Kahiko. Kahiko says that the ferret is older than himself and is living proof they had a country once. Naruto says it is ridiculous. Kahiko says that another proof is that Nerugui only sticks to members of the caravan just as Nerugui goes over to that knight again. Naruto tries to talk to the knight who only asks him what his power is. The knight thinks something about how Naruto's power is not a Gelel reaction. Then he says he came to make a utopia and asks Naruto to come with him. Naruto says that he doesn't understand and the bird he is riding runs off before he can finish the conversation.
