The National Assembly (Rathasapha) is the legislative branch of the government of Thailand. It is a bicameral body, consisting of two chambers: the Senate (Wuthisapha) and the House of Representatives (Saphaputhan Ratsadon). The House of Representatives has 500 members, 400 of whom are directly elected from electoral constituencies, with the remainder drawn proportionally from party lists. The House proposes legislation and the Senate approves, proposes amendments, or rejects. If the House and Senate cannot agree on a version of a bill, the bill is deferred for 180 days, after which the House can pass its version with absolute majority without further consultation of the Senate.
