The National Association of Schools of Music, NASM, was founded in 1924 and is an accreditor for schools for post-high school education. They currently accredit 610 institutions of higher learning. NASM should not be confused with regional accreditation. Generally, accreditation is the process by which a facility becomes officially certified as providing services of a reasonably good quality, so that the public can trust in the quality of its services. ...


NASM offers two kinds of accreditation: Institutional Membership, which "is gained only through the peer review process of accreditation," and Individual Membership "available by application."
