National Black Chamber of Commerce The National Black Chamber of Commerce, (NBCC), was “incorporated in March of 1993, in Washington D.C.” The organizations mission is “To economically empower and sustain African American communities, through the process of entrepreneurship and capitalistic activity within the United States and via interaction with the Black Diaspora.” The organization is dedicated to the economic empowerment and advancement of the African American Community. The NBCC offers an opportunity for corporations and African American businesses to join them in creating better opportunities for all people. The NBCC is a nonprofit organization that represents over 95,000 black owned businesses. The NBCC is a 501 ©3 corporation that operates on free market policies. The NBCC has a 190 chapters that are located across the United States as well as chapters in the Bahamas, Brazil, Colombia, Ghana, and Jamaica. Local branches are designed to directly help the Black community and its businesses in their particular area. The NBCC was co-founded by its president and CEO Harry Alford.
