The National Computer Security Center, part of the National Security Agency, was established in 1981 and is responsible for testing and evaluating computer equipment for use in high security and/or confidential applications. NCSC is responsible for publishing the Orange Book and Red Book detailing trusted computing and network platform specifications. The two works are more formally known as the Trusted Computing System Evaluation Criteria, part of the Rainbow Series, however, they have largely been replaced by the Common Criteria. NCSC could also stand for the New College Student Council. The NCSC is an organization at the University of Toronto, Canada. It is responsible for student issues at New College and is known for organizing several events throughout the year, both social and academic.
