National Tsing Hua University (Traditional Chinese: 國立清華大學; Simplified Chinese: 国立清华大学; Hanyu Pinyin: Guólì Qīnghuá Dàxué; Tongyong Pinyin: Guólì Cinghuá Dàsyué; Wade-Giles: Kuo-li Ch'ing-hua Ta-hsuëh; abbreviated as NTHU) is a university in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. It is one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan, with strong reputations in science and engineering, especially computer science and electrical engineering. Nearby is Hsinchu Science Park, the heart of the computer industry in Taiwan. The university and its neighbor National Chiao Tung University have been competing with each other on many fronts since the inception of both schools. This rivalry is perhaps best exemplified by the annual Mei-Chu tournament (梅竹賽), a series of sports and games competitions, held in March.
