Neil Goldman was introduced in the second season episode "Let's Go to the Hop", which established him as an original series fan of Star Trek and as an admirer of Meg. In "The Story on Page One", Neil was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. The episode also showed Neil has a smooth bass voice if he's not using his retainer. Unfortunately, he has never considered leaving his retainer off, limiting his chances for romance. Neil and Meg, working as interns for Channel 5, kissed in the episode "The Kiss Seen Around the World", but only because Meg thought she was about to die.
