The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority is a regulatory agency established by the State of New Jersey in 1971 to oversee the Meadowlands Sports Complex. Its first chairman was David A. "Sonny" Werblin.
In addition, the NJSEA built the New Jersey State Aquarium at Camden, and NJSEA funds were used to renovate various athletic facilities at Rutgers University. The NJSEA also contributed to the construction of the Meadowlands Environment Center in Lyndhurst, just across Berry's Creek from the sports complex.

The NewJerseySports and ExpositionAuthority (NJSEA) is a regulatory agency established by the State of NewJersey in 1971 to oversee the Meadowlands Sports Complex.
As of 2004, the NJSEA's purview has expanded to include Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, NewJersey; the Atlantic City, NewJersey Convention Center and Boardwalk Hall, the long-time home of the Miss America Scholarship Pageant; and The Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood, NewJersey.
