The New Netherland Project is an attempt to translate and publish 17th century Dutch documents from the period of the Dutch colonization of New Netherland. It was established in 1974 by the New York State Library and the Holland Society, and has so far published over sixteen volumes of translated documents. New Netherland (Dutch: Nieuw-Nederland, Latin: Nova Belgica or Novum Belgium) was the territory claimed by the United Provinces (the Netherlands) on the eastern coast of North America in the 17th century. ...
