Newtype USA / Home (698 words)
It is certainly one of the biggest hurdles to getting people to give anime a try -- the thought that it "all looks the same." It's quite daunting to pick out a show if you have no frame of reference on it.
When I first got into anime there were precious few resources to sample new shows (you guys are spoiled nowadays with your Newtype USAs and your free Internet-streamed episodes).
So browsing the shelves of the few stores that had any anime selection to speak of was mostly a game of buying blindly and hoping the show was good.
AnimeOnDVD.com - Convention Reports (673 words)
Newtype USA has about 100,000 readers and is holding steady at that level.
Newtype USA does work closely with Kadokawa and Newtype Japan, as well as the licensors that want to see coverage of their material published at the best time, but the magazine is independent and does not take “mandatesâ€?
Since Newtype Japan material tends to be positive, that means the original Newtype USA content needs to be fairly positive as well to keep the tone consistent.
