Nganasan language, also known as the Tavgy, Tavgi, Tawgi, Tawgi-Samoyed language (Нганасанский язык, or Тавгийский, Тавгийско-самоедский язык in Russian) is a language of the Nganasan people. It is spoken by some 1063 (1989 est.) or 750 people (1970 est.) in the southwestern and central parts of the Taymyr Peninsula. The Nganasan language belongs to the northern Samoyedic group of the Uralic language family. There are two main dialects in the Nganasan language: Avam dialect (Авамский говор) and Vadeyev dialect (Вадеевский говор). There is no Nganasan written language.
