Ngurah Rai Airport (IATA: DPSICAO: WADD), also known as Bali International Airport, is located in southern Bali, 15 km south of Denpasar. It is Indonesia's second-busiest international airport, after Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The airport is located close to the extensive tourist developments of southern Bali; the resort center of Kuta is 2.5 km north of the airport. Bali's International Airport is actually located in Tuban - Kuta but is listed with the airlines under the islands capital city's name Denpasar.
Ngurah Rai Airport started operations in 1931 by using a grass runway.
The runway was lengthened to 3000 metres, the taxiways relocated, and the airport updated with new navigational aids and aircraft refueling facilities.
