Though he twice hit more than 20 HRs in a season with the Reds, his best year came in 1989 as a member of the Boston Red Sox. During that season, he hit .277 with 30 HR and 108 RBI, quite an accomplishment considering it came before the juiced-up era of baseball began. That offseason, he signed as a free-agent with his hometown Atlanta Braves, but Esasky would go on to play only nine games for them in 1990 before being forced to call it a career.
