Nicholas James 'Nick' McKim is an Australian politician. He has been a Tasmanian Greens member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly since 2002, representing the Franklin electorate. Recently Nick McKim has been involved in helping the government pass the Same sex relationships bill (which recognises same sex relationships in Tasmania under common law) and has promoted the Greens own same sex marriage bill. Also McKim has campaigned against the proposed Walker corporations development at Lauderdale; a town within his electorate. The development was withdrawn in September. He has also heavily campaigned against the use of 1080 poison, forestry practices and the states Anti Terrorism bills. Nick McKim also served time in prison; arrested during the Farm House Blockade. McKim's interests include; wind power jokingly saying in his inaugural speech "he was a huge fan of it" [1], social justice and the environment. The Tasmanian Greens are a political party who developed from numerous environmental campaigns in Tasmania including the flooding of Lake Pedder and the building of the Franklin Dam. ...
