Nick in the Afternoon was a programming block on Nickelodeon that was aired from 1995 to 1997 on weekday afternoons during the summer, hosted by Stick Stickly, a talking popsicle stick. During its first summer, the programming consisted of normal Nickelodeon shows that would have aired regardless, but come its second summer Nick in the Afternoon took a drastic turn, instead showing preselected NickToons with added segments such as "U-Pick" (viewers pick what show and episode they want to see) and U-Dip (viewers pick which substance Stick Stickly is dipped in) The segments, although pre-selected, were chosen by a big spinner which Stick Stickly would be tied to and acted as the arrow. Nickelodeon (Nick for short) is a cable TV network primarily for children and pre-teens. ... Summer is a season, defined by convention in meteorology as the whole months of June, July, and August, in the Northern hemisphere, and the whole months of December, January, and February, in the Southern hemisphere. ...
When giving viewers the address at which they could write him, Stick Stickly would sing a little (and easily memorizable) jingle: "Write to me/Stick Stickly/PO Box 963/New York City/New York State/10108."
Nick had stepped into his formidable father's shoes running the thriving Barkley ranch at the tender age of twenty-two, now eight years later, he was respected and admired for his forthright and honest dealings, his notable personal courage and his sheer hard work.
Nick, like Jarrod, was no stranger to hard work, their father had been a firm believer in the work ethic and both brothers had grown up, aware of the need to strive hard for things and to always do their best.
Nick declared his willingness to help defend the vulnerable girl Adrienne, of whom he knew little, only that she was an un-married mother, through no fault of her own and that she was the much-loved companion of Dominica.
