The Shire of Nillumbik is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne. It has an area of 435 square kilometres. In 2001 it had a population of 58,000.

Nillumbik council has invited a land owner to subdivide an environmentally sensitive property in a challenge to the State Government's "green wedge" policy.
Nillumbik overturned council laws that had restricted residential development on a 15-hectare green area at Wattle Glen, a hamlet between Diamond Creek and Hurstbridge, in August.
Nillumbik's group manager of environment and community services, Bill Forrest, said the council would consider asking the government to extend the urban growth boundary so the land could be developed.
