Nina Cortex (ニーナ コルテックス, Nīna Korutekkusu?) is a character in the Crash Bandicoot series of video games. She has mechanical arms that are used to grab on to things and punch enemies, and is the only character who appears to be a goth (except, possibly, the scrapped character, Evil Coco). She was developed for Crash Nitro Kart when it was being developed by Traveller's Tales, and then used in Crash Twinsanity as a playable character. She is also a playable character in Crash Tag Team Racing. Nina Cortex is Doctor Neo Cortex's niece. Image File history File links Ninacortex. ...

Biography
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. After showing signs of a good heart, Cortex replaced Nina's hands with spring-loaded, steel-trap mechanical arms of death. He then sends her to the Acadamy Of Evil to become a villain like him.
Crash Twinsanity In Crash Twinsanity, Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex go to the Academy to find her so that she can help them save the world. After Cortex finds her she must make her way through the rooftops to get out of the school. During the game she is kidnapped by Crash's evil counterpart, named Evil Crash, in another dimension, but in the end she is able to help defeat the enemy. She does not speak once throughout the game (except saying "Huh?" in the final cutscene). Evil Crash Bandicoot is a fictional character in the Crash Bandicoot series. ...
Other appearances - In Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage, Nina is depicted as having a childish speaking pattern, referring to herself in the third person, and calling Spyro a "purple puppy".[1] She is also seen having incredible running prowess, being able to keep up with Polar for a good length of time without showing signs of fatigue. Her behavior in the game is officially considered by fans as non-canon.
- In Crash Tag Team Racing, Nina Cortex's canonical personality is finally cemented. She seems to be easily annoyed and has a negative way of looking at life, much like a stereotypical Goth. Nina's character is similar to that of Mandy from the animated television series The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. In this game, she is seen attempting to obliterate the Bandicoots with Dr. Cortex and Doctor N. Gin. Also, in the same game, Nina is disliked to the extreme by Coco Bandicoot, who has a rivalry against her. No one knows why, as Nina certainly doesn't appear to hold anything against her female opposite. She looks the same way when she appeared in Twinsanity, except her height has changed, making her shorter. At one point in the game, Nina gets a part-time job in order to purchase the Angsterator car, going as far as to practically begging Crash to help her get the job.[2]

Trivia - She drives three cars in CTTR: Organ Grinder, Angsterator, and Slave Driver.
- Nina's actual debut was in Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage, in the position of a boss. She fully appears in Twinsanity as a playable character.
- One of Nina's cars, the Organ Grinder, is also the name of a Marilyn Manson song of their album Portrait of an American Family. This may be a "nod" towards Marilyn Manson as Nina is a goth.
- Nina was originally to be a playable character in Crash Nitro Kart when it was developed by Traveler's Tales Knutsford, and originally had red hair and wore a lab coat (like Neo Cortex) [1].
- Nina is quite possibly Dr. Neo Cortex's daughter, as implied by a remark by the latter in Twinsanity at the start of the second "humiliskate" level (in the 10th Dimension).[3]

Theories Even though she is known as Dr. Cortex's niece, there is an unsolved mystery to Nina's relation to Dr. Cortex. In Crash Twinsanity, when Nina needed to be rescued, Dr. Cortex called her "daughter" but quickly covered it up so Crash wouldn't notice. Nina appears to be fully convinced that he's her uncle, so only Cortex really knows who she is: his niece or his daughter. Although this is a shocking line, it hasn't been proven that this mystery is the truth.
