A ninth chord is a chord with a ninth, and is an extended chord. Added tone chords with what might be called an added second are usually said to have an added ninth, two fifths up from the root.
"The Ninth" commonly refers to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
Amendment IX (the Ninth Amendment) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, states:
It has been considered that the 9th Amendment was put in place just as a notice to the Congress that they were still a body constrained by a set of enumerated powers.
The Ninth Amendment, it is argued, recognizes that such natural rights are retained by the people and cannot be abridged by the government.
