First appeared as a roadster in 1961, it wasn't until 1966 the name appeared in the US as a Fairlady 2000 but Yutaka Katayama protested, claiming to be sounding like the play My Fair Lady therefore the name was dropped when the 240Z came out, but the Japanese kept the name for their domestic markets
