A non-event is an event that is anticlimactic to the point at which it becomes easy to argue that it barely happened at all. Non-events are traditionally disappointing, as they are often much hyped prior to their occurrence (of course, the hype assumes the event will be a success).
Some notable non-events of recent history have been:
Members of the media may not attend CPN events in their professional capacity unless attendance at the event is limited to those who have agreed in writing to be covered by the media.
Such events may be ancillary to non-media events, provided: (1) the media event is held in a physically separate space, and (2) the reporters have agreed not to interview or otherwise depict anyone who has not signed a written consent form.
Events where no direct financial benefit accrues to the Member or his/her immediate family are not considered Commercial Events (e.g., an announcement of a gathering at a restaurant, theater, or other commercial establishment, etc. even though a Member or Members family member may be employed by the establishment).
Non-College groups, organizations or events may not use College facilities and/or grounds for private or personal gain or profit, or for activities that are not complementary to the mission of the College.
Use of College facilities for a personal event by a College-affiliated individual is regarded as a ‘non-College’ event, and is subject to the requirements of this policy, and of the Black-out and Grey-out Period policy, as a ‘non-College’ event.
All non-College event requests should be directed to the College’s Events Scheduling Office, and the Events Scheduling Office will determine: eligibility of the requesting group; whether the date requested is available; whether space and support resources are available for the event, and the appropriate space/facility for the event.
