Norsk Tipping AS is the National Lottery in Norway. The company is owned by the Norwegian State and adimistrated from Ministry of Culture. Norsk Tipping was founded in 1948 and offered only Football Pools (Tipping) until 1986, when Lotto was introduced. Today Norsk Tipping is offering Draw Games (Lotto, Viking Lotto, Joker and Extra), Sports Games (Tipping and Oddsen) and the Scratch Game family Flax. In June 2003 the Parliament (Stortinget) decided that Norsk Tipping should take over the Gaming Machine market in Norway, but this is still not realized because of a legal case being initiated from the current private operators.
The proceeds from the activities are equally distributed between Sports and Colture in Norway. In fact, 25% of the Government Culture budget is coming from these proceeds. The game Extra is an exception, where the proceeds are given to good social projects through a dedicated organisation.
