SanJose (IPA: [sæn hoʊˈzeɪ]) is the third-most populous city in California after Los Angeles and San Diego, and is the county seat of Santa Clara County.
SanJose was the first town in the Spanish colony of Nueva California (later Alta California), founded in 1777.
SanJose was the host of ArenaBowl XVI on August 18, 2002 in which the SanJose SaberCats defeated the Arizona Rattlers, 52-14.
The area is bounded by Interstate 40 on the south, Interstate 25 on the east, the Rio Grande on the west, and the Bernalillo/ Sandoval County line on the north.
The environmental character of the NorthValley is strongly influenced by the Rio Grande and its associated bosque, the Spanish word for woods.
Despite the fact that development trends have shifted the primary growth in the region to the mesas east and west of the river, the Rio Grande Valley remains the historical and cultural heart of the region, transcending the centuries.
