Northern Region is a term used to indicate Canadian territory north of 60 degrees north lattitude, these include most of Nunavut, all of Yukon Territory, the Northwest Territories, some of nothern Quebec, and a bit of northern Labrador.
Northern territories is sometimes used to refer to the north of Israel, south of Lebanon and the Golan Heights

The NorthernTerritory was part of New South Wales from 1825 to 1863, and part of South Australia from 1863 to 1911.
