Charles Darwin University (CDU) is located in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. It was created on 1 January2004 from the amalgamation of Northern Territory University (NTU) of Darwin and Centralian College of Alice Springs. The predecessor institution, NTU, was founded in January1989 from the Darwin Institute of Technology (founded 1974) and the University College of the Northern Territory (1987).
The primary campuses are located in the Darwin suburbs of Casuarina and Palmerston, in addition to Mataranka Station north of Katherine. There are 23 areas of study offered by the university's four faculties:
