The Norton Sound is an inlet of the Bering Sea in western Alaska, south of the Seward Peninsula. It is about 240 km (150 miles) long and 200 km (125 miles) wide. The Norton Sound area has been home to Yupik and Inupiat for many centuries. It is the boudary between the two peoples; the Inupiat live north of the Norton Sound and the Yupik live south of it.
