Encyclopedia > Norwegian Student Choral Society

The Norwegian Student Choral Society (DnS) was founded in 1845. It is the official male voice choir at the University of Oslo.

The choir has a driving ambition and is at the same time a society of rich musical tradition reaching back to the Norwegian national-romantic period of the 19th Century. This vital tradition is shared with the other academic choirs of the Nordic countries.

The DnS has during recent years (2003) gone through a period of reforms where musical schooling and the recruitment of young singers have enjoyed a revival.

Conductor at present is Mr. Thomas Caplin.
