Novamente is a software platform and hybrid symbolic/connectionist cognitive architecture for strong artificial general intelligence. Connectionism today generally refers to an approach in the fields of cognitive psychology, cognitive science and philosophy of mind which models mental or behavioral phenomena with neural networks, and is associated with a certain set of arguments for why this is a good idea. ... A cognitive architecture is a (artificial) computational process that acts like a certain cognitive system, most often, like a person, or acts intelligent under some definition. ... Strong AI is a hypothetical form of artificial intelligence that can truly reason and solve problems; a strong AI is said to be sentient, or self-aware, but may or may not exhibit human-like thought processes. ...
