The islands of East Nusa Tenggara are formed by the protruding peaks of a mountain chain which begins in northern Sumatra, stretching across Java toward the east.
East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is one of the four provinces in the Nusa Tenggara island chain starting from Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and East Timor.
The mountains of East Nusa Tenggara are not as high as in West Nusa Tenggara where the highest mountain of all of Nusa Tenggara is G. Rinjani in Lombok (3726m).
